Type Locality and Naming
Along the Bukhaykak reservoir, Central Kyzylkum. M.E. Egamberdyev, 1963 (512, p.14). Stratotype in the Bukhaykak reservoir area.
Synonym: Bukhaykak Fm, Bukhainak Fm, Bukhaikak Suite, Бухайнакская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Variegated clays (bluish-green, green, red, purple, yellow, dark gray) with layers of cross-bedded, ripple-marked sandstones and siltstone (aleurolites). At the base, a low-power layer (0.2-0.5m) of conglomerate consisting of brown ironstone concretions with phosphorite pebbles, shark teeth, mud-eater burrows. Thickness 0-30m.
